Résumé
Ochlerotatus albifasciatus is a floodwater mosquito with a wide Neotropical distribution. This demonstrating a proliferation capacity in different climates and it could suggest variability among geographical populations. The aim of this project was to compare characteristics or parameters related to the life history of a population from arid climate (Sarmiento, Chubut) with respect to from the temperate climate (Buenos Aires). In the field the adult activity and associated variables were recorded. Eggs were obtained from local females. In the laboratory, It was induced the hatching, and then the development of immature stadia was followed at different temperatures. It was measured the wing size, and their conformation was determined by geometric morphometric techniques. The dynamics of adults in Sarmiento was associated with temperature, wind, cloud cover and the practice of flooding irrigation. In the immature forms evidences of local variations were found in the thermal threshold, survival and the development time, while in the adult only in the wing shape. For another hand, egg survival to freezing temperatures like the body size in function of temperature did not show differences between regions. Possibly this could indicate that some characteristics were have preserved. Some features of the life history showed possible adaptive responses to local climatic conditions.
