Résumé
Currently, worldwide, more than one billion people lack access to water to meet their own basic daily needs. Two characteristics mark the historic semiarid region : prolonged periodic droughts, which occur approximately every ten years, and the annual water shortage during the dry season. Since water is a risk factor and sojourn on earth, its scarcity caused the breakdown of communities, and consequently the decrease in agricultural production, resulting exodus rural and urban, swelling cities, which grew without planning. The P1MC focuses on your project, empowerment of families in order to provide a better coexistence with the semiarid and their hardships, while ensuring good quality water for human consumption by reducing the incidence of waterborne diseases. This study aimed to analyze how Social Technology has been used and appropriate public policies, particularly within the P1MC. Through experience of cisterns that were implanted in the average backlands of Paraiba, in communities located in the cities of São José de Espinharas and Patos and evaluating the effects of public policies to combat drought through the use of technology Social (cisterns) those rural communities of the interior of Paraíba. Empirical research has been in the rural municipality of Patos in the backlands of Paraiba, because there are several records of building cisterns and little or no data on issues such as water quality, involvement of beneficiaries in the design and improvement (or not) of quality of life for residents as a result of the project. We note, in the general framework, that P1MC reduces long walks and effort - usually done by women - in search of drinking water.
