Résumé
The hydroponic green fodder production (HGF) is an alternative to conventional methods of forage production that contributes to sustainable farming, especially in arid and semi-arid lands. This study proposes an alternative aquaponics for growing green fodder as a byproduct from wastewater of a tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) culture. The experiment consisted of a factorial design in which four production systems are tested : control (water), hydroponic, aquaponic and ¿mixed¿ (supplemented aquaponic with hydroponic), with three forages : alfalfa (Medicago sativa), barley (Hordeum vulgare) and corn (Zea mays), to evaluate it¿s performance in height, wet weight, moisture percentage, dry weight, dry matter percentage and productivity in terms of dry matter per unit area (m2) per year. Differences were significant for all variables tested in the statistical analysis for species, according to the Tukey test (p < 0.05 ; ¿ = 0.05). They were not significant differences for the statistical analysis, in any of the parameters evaluated between systems, except for the height of corn, in the first cycle of the experiment, which had higher values on the hydroponic system. In the second cycle of the experiment, only the results of the Tukey test of corn wet weight were significantly different between production systems, however, these results did not affect it¿s behavior in terms of dry weight considering maize as the most productive species ; and aquaponic and ¿mixed¿ as the most outstanding among the different cropping systems.
