Résumé
Coastal ecosystems are biologically very productive and support most of fisheries and marine aquacultures. Also, they support a large portion of the human population and economy. Urban and development and other human activity have threatened these natural resources, and this process is accelerated by inadequate uses of the coastal resources. To stem further deterioration, it is first necessary to evaluate the status of coastal ecosystems. Several management strategies of handling in an integrated framework of development have been proposed. The general objective of this study is to develop functions based on environmental parameters that allow evaluation of the ecological integrity of a specific area in a expeditious and holistic form. The model presented here is simple and easy to manipulate, introducing an indicator of the holistic approach and reflecting reality of environmental quality. The model has sufficient sensitivity to define environmental scenarios and changes correctly over time and between high and low environmental qualities.
