Résumé
The present study shows the productive potential of a group of cultivars of cowpea in pre-flowering and flowering stages to obtain production functions of biomass and grain, using a destructive and non-destructive method. The registration and analysis of the following variables was carried out : a) phenological : 1) days to emergency, 2) days to flowering, 3) days to first maturation of pod and 4) days to total maturity ; b) production of biomass (green and dry matter) : 1) leaf area, 2) diameter of stem, 3) number of primary and secondary ramifications, 4) height of plant, 5) number, fresh and dry weight of leaves, 6) fresh and dry weight of stem, 7) leaf-stem ratio, 8) leaf area index, 9) length, fresh and dry weight of root and 10) number, diameter and weight of nodules ; c) grain yield, 1) number of pod and bunch of pods per plant, 2) weight of seed per plant, 3) number of pod per bunch, 4) number and weight of seeds per pods, 5) length of pods ; d) bromatological characteristics : 1) content of raw protein, 2) content of raw fiber, 3) content of ashes, 4) content of lipids, 5) content of energy, 6) free extract of nitrogen and 7) dry matter content. Also the evaluation of the effect of the fodder of cowpea was carried out as main source of food upon productive aspects of native goats such as, 1) weight at the birth of baby goat, 2) increase daily average weight of baby goat, 3) weight at weaning of baby goat and 4) production of milk during the third month of lactation. The results showed significant differences (P 0.05) among cultivars for the majority of the evaluated variables in flowering, except for fresh and dry weight of leaves, where the cultivars 18 (IT90K-277-2) and 25 (Sesenteño) showed the higher values of fresh weight (FW) and dry weight (DW) with 105.33, 90.66 and 16.06, 13.39 g. Similar results were showed in the pre-flowering stage with statistical differences (P 0.05) in the majority of the variables, except for FW. The best function for FW using the non-destructive method in flowering was for the cultivar 4 (Cuarenteño) with R2=0.69 and for DW for the cultivar 23 (IT91K-118-20) with R2=0.71, increasing the determination coefficients to R2= 0.82 when the destructive method was used. The yield of grain showed significant differences (P 0.05) among cultivars for the variables (bunches per plant, pod per plant, pods per bunch, weight of grain per plant, weight hectolítrico, weight of 100 seeds, length of seeds, wide of seed, thickness of seed, length of pod, wide of pod, weight of pod, seeds per pod, weight of seeds per pod), showing that the cultivars 1 and 18 showed the highest averages for the variable weight of seed per plant (WSP) with 21.88 and 21.07 g supporting to these results the grain production functions with values of R2 over 0.92 and emphasizing that the variables, pods per bunch, pods per plant, bunch per plant, and length of pods, were the best predictor variables, indicating that these variables are correlated significantly (P 0.05) with weight of grain.
