Résumé
The Pinus johannis is a predominantly dioecious conifer of the pinyon group, has limited distribution and is listed in the NOM-059 as a species into a special protection. The conditions where it grows as in poor soils and drought tolerant, which makes it a hardy species, so it is recommended in reforestation in arid and eroded areas. By the importance that the species has, the aim of this study was to evaluate the production of cones and seeds, through the reproductive indicators. In 2012 the collection was performed in five natural populations of Pinus johannis distributed in the states of Coahuila, Nuevo León and Zacatecas. For collecting, twenty trees that were chosen on average per population, which was extracted ten cones per tree chosen on average. For the analysis of data were integrated collections from the year 1998, 2003 and 2008. According to the manual of analysis of cones and seeds, potential and seed efficiency was estimated. The viability of the seed was obtained from density separation, and X-rays as a means of ratification. For cone and seed evaluation an analysis of variance was performed using a nested classification model for two production variables and four reproductive indicators. According to the average, significant differences between years and between populations they were found. Production of Pinus johannis populations are being affected primarily by the effects of inbreeding, insects and environmental effects.
