Résumé
The major problems in the upland and Ravine Regions of Loess Plateau in Northern Shaanxi are the fragility of the natural conditions, represented as the degradation of vegetation, soil and water erosion, and desertification. The vegetation reconstruction in the upland and Ravine Regions of Loess Plateau in Northern Shaanxi was studied in this paper, using Zichang County as an example. The information on environment, population, natural resources, agriculture and agricultural economy, as well as the natural conditions and technologies on which the vegetation reconstruction relied were collected first, then the theory and technical issues on vegetation reconstruction were analyzed and summarized, the results were as the following:1. There were various geographical characters in the upland and Ravine Regions of Loess Plateau in Northern Shaanxi, such as upland, Ravine, slope land etc, the vegetation reconstruction should built protective forestry as the major target and arrange the combination of different kinds of trees rationally, in order to utilize the sunlight, heat, water and soil efficiently and improve the land productivity. The models for building protective forestry were rainfall collecting for building forestry, economic trees and fruits built in the southern slope of the upland and ravine, forestry built for soil and water conservation, isolate natural secondary forestry with combination of arbor and bush, ecological economic forestry, isolate natural recovery of vegetation in the deep slope.2. The grasses could adopt in the those regions widely, the models of grass cultivation could be extended in the those regions were arbor forestry with grasses, combination of arbor, bush and grasses, grasses cultivated with sparse trees, grasses cultivated with bushes, fruit garden with grasses, crops with grasses, grassland agriculture, grassland with engineering measures.3. The ecological economy should be used as the guide for the utilization of grasses in the vegetation construction ; the emphasis should be stressed on the harmonization of the economy, ecology and the soil-water conservation as well, the combination of ecological recovery and the economical development. The models of interactive cultivation of grain crops and grasses, rotation of grain crops and grasses, mixed artificial grassland, and fruit tree garden with grassland could be adopted. For the vegetation reconstruction in the upland and ravine regions of northern Shaanxi, the suitable models of grasses utilization were protective cultivation with arbor and bush in margin areas of upland and canal as the road as well, level stripe cultivation with the fruit trees garden, mixed cultivation with crops in the slope land, cultivation with trees in the northern slope land, level strip cultivation in the deep slope land.The vegetation reconstruction is a comprehensive systematic engineering, and involves the every side of society, economy and technology, even involves different industry. The models on the vegetation reconstruction in the upland and ravine regions of northern Shaanxi proposed in this study could be used in guiding the ecological reconstruction in those similar regions.
