Résumé
A plastic-covered ridge and furrow rainfall harvesting (PRFRH) system is designed to increase water availability to crops for improving and stabilizing agricultural production. The ridges covered with plastic film serve as rainfall harvesting zones, and furrows serve as planting zones. It adapts to non-irrigated land and flat contoured land which are far away resource of runoff or lack runoff.The experiments were carried out from 2002 to 2005 in Haiyuan county,southern Ningxia. Different ratio and width of ridge and furrow were designed to quantify soil water control effect under micro-catchment cultivation through imitating rainfall and nature rainfall, at the same time, studing physiological and ecological responses of foxtail millet and broom-corn millet and maize under micro-catchment cultivation to further understand yield increase mechanism of micro-catchment cultivation.1 Control effect of soil waterFollowing the increase of rainfall, the Rfr (The ratio of rainfall distribution between furrow and ridge) of specil strip pattern was decreasing, Xm (Maximum depth of rainfall infiltration in the furrow) and Xn (Vertical distribution eigenvalue of rainfall in the furrow) was increasing, M (Lateral distribution eigenvalue of rainfall in the furrow) was decreasing ; In certain rainfall, following the increase of rainfall intensity, the Rfr of special strip pattern was decreasing, Xm, Xn and M was decreasing ; In the same rainfall level, in the same ratio of ridge and furrow, following the narrowness of strip pattern, Rfr, Xm, Xn and M was decreasing ; Following the increase of nature rainfall, Maximum depths of rainfall infiltration in the furrow of different treatments were deeper, evaporation ratios in the furrow were lower than those of CK, effects of storage and conservation water of different treatments were better.2 Effect of soil water storageSoil water storage of micro-catchment treatments of foxtail millet and broom-corn millet and maize was more than that of CK at different growth period. At harvest stage, soil water storage of micro-catchment treatments of foxtail millet and broom-corn millet and maize increased by 35.28 mm(in 2004)、65.33 mm(in 2003)、27.05 mm(in 2004), respectively, compared with those of CK, therefore, micro-catchment cultivation had effects on water
