Résumé
This study designed to investigate the effect of some plant extracts, natural oils and certain insecticides on the mortality of larvae of the rhinoceros beetle Oryctes rhinoceros under laboratory conditions. The results of the study revealed that : • Preliminary experiments showed that : extracts of Calotropis procera, Azadirachta indica, Citrullus colocynthis, Alkarath, Cinnamum zeylanicum, Ricinus Communis, Anethum graveolens, Eruca Sativa(oil), and Prunus dulcis (oil) have no lethal effect on the last larval stage of the target insect pest. • Data revealed that the powder of cloves flower buds Syzygium aromaticum, caused mortalities of 0%, 20%, 26.6 %, 46.6% and 60%with serial concentrations of 1% 2% 3% 4% 5% respectively, after 24 hours of treatment. On the other hand, the residual effect of cloves powder with in treated soil extended to 72 hour and 144 hour for the concentrations of 5 and 9%, respectively after treatment. Whereas, the residual effect of cloves oil with concentrations 1, 3, 5% persisted in treated soil reaching 72, 96, 120 hours respectively, after treatment. • Cotton seed oil, Gossypium herbaceum caused also larval mortality in concentrations of 1% 3% 5% after 24 hours treatment reached 20, 50, and 80%, respectively. As indicated by experiments over the survival of the effect of powder and clove oil to as a death in the larvae in the soil where the extended effect of powder pink for 72 hours in a concentration of 5% and to 144 hours of concentration of 9%. As for clove oil concentration of 1% 3% 5% gave Continue to the effect of 72,96, 120 hours, respectively. • The insecticide Furadan applied to soil with serial concentrations of 3, 6 and 9% caused larval mortalities of 50, 70, and 90% respectively, 24 hour after treatment. • The ; Organophosphorus Pesticide Rugby was applied to control the larvae of Oryctes with concentration of 1, 3 and 5 % and provided larval mortalities of 40, 50 and 80% respectively. The same trend in results was obtained by using the insecticide Diazinon against the target insect. • A commercial biopreparation of the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae was applied to the soil to control the larvae of Oryctes. Data showed this preparation had no effect on the larvae under the dominant environmental conditions.
