Résumé
This thesis makes three key contributions : (a) the first evaluation of the quality of the 2003 Oman Census in relation to the 1993 Census ; (b) the first population projection for Oman based on the 2003 Census data incorporating demographic variables for all sections of the population ; and (c) the first-ever study of the implications of the likely demographic future of Oman for a range of development-related state-provided services and outcomes. This study also indicates how the findings and innovations of this thesis might usefully be applied to other countries in similar circumstances.
