Présentation
Context : Tanzania has a very serious deforestation challenges, with significant reductions in forestry cover. Several different estimates exist, but the FAO estimated deforestation rates of 412,000 ha per year since 1990. Most of the communities are highly exposed to unfavorable conditions due to poverty and low income levels. These conditions contribute to highly environmental degradation such as cutting down trees for firewood hence making their environment to be at high risk, unattractive and unbeneficial to community. Therefore the proposed project will focus on enhancing villagers’ use of renewable energy especially biogas as a way of conserving the environment and reduction of women burden of firewood collection.
Project’s primary objective:The main objective of this project is to improve lives of vulnerable people and reduce time spent in searching for firewood.
Project’s purpose : Increase conservation and accessibility of energy to the project beneficiaries in the rural parts of Moshi.
Project specific objectives : • Provide training to the beneficiaries of the project on how they can use biogas digesters to produce gas for home cooking • Installation of biogas digesters to the vulnerable groups so that they are able to get gas for cooking at home • Create awareness to the entire community and government in order to ensure that they see the value of using these biogas digesters for reduced over dependence on natural resources
