Présentation
The effects of climate change will indeed be one of the greatest and critical challenges facing humanity in the near future. Addressing these challenges will require action on several fronts, including adaptation, mitigation and a full effort of all stakeholders. The negative impacts of climate change can increase exponentially when critical situations (floods, floods, landslides or heatwaves) affect vulnerable populations, such as People With Disabilities (PWD) due to unfavorable socioeconomic conditions, inadequate habitability and risk, limitations in access to relevant information, and limitations in their ability to adapt and respond to unpredictable and extreme events. The vulnerabilities of PWDs are also related to the lack of information, financial and human resources preparedness in contingency planning and adequate responses to emergencies caused by actions related to climate change.
This project was drafted in a general way to respond to the challenges described, inscribing concrete actions aimed at supporting PWDs and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to better understand their vulnerability, and to adapt to the adverse effects and risks of climate change. In particular, it intends to create situations of broad dialogue with key actors on the interactivity of the issues of the effects of climate change and PWD. In addition, the aim is to promote the training of stakeholders in these areas in order to balance the level of information on understanding, risk perception and understanding of the vulnerability of PWD to the risks of climate change, and of course create conditions for appropriate flow of information with the responsible authorities.
