Résumé
The water recharge, retention and reuse (3R) of rain water project promote the integration of 3R approaches in to the design and implementation of rain water harvesting systems. the project is implemented together with the Dutch and Ethiopian Wash Alliance. It is focused on the DWA regions of interest (Afar, Oromia and SNNPR). this is carried out through TOT, production and dissemination of public

Contexte
The DWA targets arid/semi-arid zones in Ethiopia. Most of the arid zones are located in the lowlands. The arid lowlands are often the harshest of environments but also buffer management techniques in such areas are less well known. These areas encounter various water related problems such as water availability in dry seasons and water quality. 3R approach rehabilitate the water retention capacity of water sources and create sustainable buffering zones. Better buffer management in these areas will help sustain the source (or create new ones) for water supply systems, facilitate self supply system and contribute to livestock watering, hence serving the economy

Objectifs
The projects have the following objectives : • To introduce water buffer management to the target areas • To strengthen 3R commitment of institutions and local organizations (EWA and others) • To discover, investigate and document 3R case • To create the basis for a methodology to roll-out 3R
