Sorghum belongs to the elite handful of plants that collectively provide more than 85% of all human energy and enhances household food security. Food security for a household means access by all members at all times to enough food for an active and healthy life. Globally approximately 925 million people are food insecure. Two hundred and thirty nine million people are found in the sub-Saharan Africa and the number of hungry people in sub-Saharan Africa has increased in recent times. Factors influencing sorghum production in Developing Countries presents, farmers’ socio-economic characteristics and how they influence sorghum production which include, age, gender, farm size, educational status, level of personal income, membership of co-operatives, access to credit, number of extension contacts, closeness to market, infrastructural facilities, (roads, housing, schools, clinics, potable water), annual farm income, farmers household size and years of farming experience.
