Poverty reduction is one of the main developmental challenges that the Kenyan government faces. It is closely linked to the agriculture sector where a majority of Kenyans rely on agriculture for a livelihood. The government aims at increasing agricultural productivity through among other strategies, promoting adoption of sustainable land management (SLM) technologies. SLM technologies reduce land degradation and increased agricultural production, thereby reducing food shortage and chronic poverty. This book investigates the effect of climate and weather variability among other covariates on adoption and intensity of adoption of SLM technologies and chronic poverty. Household survey plot level data, complemented with climate and weather data are used to analyze the effect of adoption of SLM technologies on poverty Trivariate regression and negative binomial-logit hurdle models are used to analyze the effect of climate and weather variability among other covariates on adoption and intensity of adoption of SLM technologies respectively.
