Résumé
Desert land is subject to severe wind erosion. Meanwhile,
blowing of winds creates many other problems including the
formation of shifting sand sheets and sand dunes that may
occur also on Agricultural land, traffic lines. These
present the main constraints affecting reclamation and
settlement activities as well as other strategic movements.
Confineting such adverse influences may be carried out
through the establishment of wind screens. mechanical- and
in particular biological fixation.
Advantages of biological fixation under desert conditions
include ; effective long-term protection against wind ;
effective protection of the ground, the plants being a
natural and homogenous sand-trapping system positive
influence on the ecology of the respective area (e.g. soil
moisture and micro-climate) ; potential source of income by
controled grazing, fuel wood extraction etc ..
The present study was designed to measure the performance
of Acacia saligna, Atriplex nummularia, Panicum antidotal ,
Prosopis juliflora &
under the prevailing
station, In Sinai.
