Présentation
The Minab Plain is a rich plain stretching from Mokran mountains all the way to the coast including the internationally important wetlands of Rude-shur and Rude-shirin. There are more than 200 species of birds and endemic species of plants, with a vegetative cover of over 300 square km. Traditional livelihoods of people included keeping orchards (namely palm), such that Minab alone had 13000ha of palm orchards. In addition to palm trees many other fruits are produced in Minab (lemons, mango, ?). However, in the past decade, many of the trees have been dried out. This project aims to engage local communities in revival of their orchards and provide additional livelihoods for them through agrotourism by helping the community document their indigenous knowledge and know-how on management of orchards, support better packaging and marketing of products, as well as production of handicrafts that will help promote agrotourism in this area.
