Description
The project goal is to promote the development of the shea sector through an integrated approach and strengthen the capacities of value chain stakeholders. The project will contribute to the economic empowerment of women in Burkina Faso in the following regions : Central West, the Mouhoun, Hauts-bassins and the Southwest where most of the shea trees are located. The project’s main objective is to strengthen the capacity of key actors in the Shea Sector Value Chain in Burkina Faso. Table Filiere Karite is the umbrella body and used as a forum for business associations, cooperatives and producer associations in the shea sector. The shea value chain in Burkina Faso is characterized by low local processing of raw materials. The strengthening of TFK is essential to the development of the shea sector throughout the value chain, to ensure that all stakeholders play their role. The main objective will be achieved through activities around the following three components : a) Capacity building and organization of stakeholders in the value chain and networking of these actors ; b) Improved access to credit for the collection and processing of shea ; c) Improved quality of products in the value chain and market access.
