To stimulate the emergence and development of a market-oriented biomass briquette sector (Kenya)

Kenya

Titre : To stimulate the emergence and development of a market-oriented biomass briquette sector (Kenya)

Région : Kenya

Date : 2018-2022,

Contexte : Modern energy services are crucial to human well-being and to a country’s economic development. In Kenya, at household level, economic poverty is in direct correlation to energy poverty, often characterized by widespread consumption of non-monetized traditional biomass energy, e.g. wood and other organic matter, and a demand-supply imbalance.

Présentation
The program seeks to establish a sustainable briquette manufacturing sector in Kenya by developing a supply chain ranging from production to establishing standards for domestic and industrial use. This will support community-based green enterprises to create sustainable source of income that will improve local livelihoods, while contributing to responsible use and protection of the environmental and reducing the negative effects of climate change.

Partenaire (s) : Greening Kenya Initiative Trust (GKIT)

Budget : $10 million
