Présentation
The EU funded programme for improved regional fisheries governance in Western Africa (PESCAO) aims at enhancing the contribution of fisheries resources to sustainable development, food security and poverty alleviation in West Africa.
This programme has 3 components : * PESCAO will support the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in developing a framework for regional fisheries priorities and facilitating cooperation with sub-regional organisations and development partners. * PESCAO will build the capacities of competent national and regional monitoring, control and surveillance authorities to deter IUU fishing. This will be done by setting up a partnership between the Sub-Regional Fisheries Commission (SRFC), the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) and the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA). * PESCAO will support coordinated approaches for shared fisheries management in supporting FAO and research institutes.
