Résumé
Water scarcity is one of the major problems that Egypt faces. Many development projects implement many of vast green-spaces to attract people which lead to the drain of water resources in the opposing way to the sustainability development targets in maintaining the water resources, which causes negligence of open green-spaces and the draining of water resources enormously in the landscape process. Xeriscape (water smart landscaping) produces attractive landscape with low cost and low maintenance. Xeriscape is one of the sustainable landscape trends, which depends on designing with low water requirements plants. Xeriscape is being accepted as an alternative design method for conserving water. After that, some examples of previous international and regional open green-spaces are analyzed as case studies to evaluate sustainability guidelines and xeriscape principles. Finally, the research can monitor Egyptian people perception about xeriscape landscaping, and try to identify the constraints and possibilities facing xeriscape application in Egypt
