In the present scenario, entrepreneurship development in dairy and food processing sector is a key driver for promoting and sustaining the momentum of growth and providing employment. Hence, the present study has been conducted in purposively selected Bikaner district of Rajasthan to understand the entrepreneurial behaviour of dairy livestock owners. A total of 120 dairy livestock owners were selected randomly from 8 villages of 2 tehsils namely Bikaner and Lunkaransar. The quantitative and qualitative data were collected through interview schedule, discussion, observation and available secondary sources. The study revealed that majority of the dairy livestock owners belonged to medium age group,primary school level of education status, small size of family, nuclear family system, medium experience in dairy occupation, not participated in training, medium social participation,medium level of mass media utilization, marginal land holding, medium milk producers, medium size of herd, annual gross income ranged between Rs. 3 lakh to 6 lakh and medium entrepreneurial behaviour. The study indicated that highest Entrepreneurial Behaviour Index (63.50) was found in achievement motivation followed by coordinating ability, self-confidence, planning ability, innovativeness, cosmopoliteness and risk orientation. The lowest (29.76) Entrepreneurial Behaviour Index recorded in case of decision making ability. The EBI for overall entrepreneurial behaviour was found 44.04. The highest index in case of achievement motivation showed that the dairy livestock owners get motivated by their 192 achievement in the sector of dairy occupation. The study revealed that majority of the dairy livestock owners had medium level of knowledge in dairy management practices. Higher level of knowledge was observed in feeding practices, while minimum in health care practices. The overall knowledge level was found to be only 66.69.
