Résumé
The aim of this study was the evaluation of Guar meal (guar meal churi and guar meal korma - with or without heat treatment) in the feeding of growing rabbits, replacing the sunflower meal, studying its effects on the growth performance and in digestibility of diets. Through the daily log of live weight of animals and the food intake it was possible to determine the daily food intake (IMD), the live weight (PV), the average daily gain (GMD) and the feed convertion rate (IC). There were used 250 hybrids animals, into two diferent assays, 50 of this animals were used in the digestibility assay and 200 animals in the performance assay. In both assays, the animals were divided by 5 treatments, corresponding to the diets provided to the animals. In the control group, a conventional food was used ; in the GMC a diet with guar meal churi (5%) ; in the GMK a diet with guar meal korma (5%) without heat treatment ; in GMK t1 and GMK t2 a thermally treated guar meal korma diet and with a 5 and 10% incorporation level, respectively. In the digestibility assay, the 50 animals (1083 ± 128g) were divided by the 5 treatments, forming a total of 10 replicates for each treatment, in metabolic cages. The determination of digestibility occurred during 4 days (between 53 and 57 days old). In the performance assay, the 200 animals (1060 ± 142g) were divided by all 5 treatments, constituting also 10 replicates for every treatment. In each collective cage were placed four animals at a density of 0,075 rabbits/m2 . The animals were monitored for 28 days between weaning (36 days) and slaughter (64 days). In the total fattening period (PT), there were no significant differences between the treatments for the PV, GMD, IMD and mortality, however the IC in the same period differed statistically (P<0.05) between the animals of the control group and the other groups, the latter ones having a better value. With respect to the digestibility assay, it was possible verify that, for the digestibility parameters analyzed (PB, GB, NDF, ADF and MO), there were no significant differences between the treatments. According to the data obtained, we can show that the substitution of sunflower meal by guar, in the different levels didn’t affect the performances of the animals and the digestibility.
