Energy is one of the main factors involved in the development of human societies and those earn less benefit from it are among the poorest countries in the world. Due to the increasing world population and environmental problems caused by the improper use of fossil resources fuels, reaching clean and cheap energy resources are necessary for sustaining human life cycle. The developed countries have been considered more renewable energy. Among renewable energy sources, solar energy is one of the best and accessible renewable energy. In Iran, the high consumption of energy and problems caused by the consumption of fossil fuels these energies are necessary. In the present study solar energy potential in Kurdistan province were studied using climatic and environmental data. The data used in climate research, including temperature, humidity, pressure, and the sundial on synoptic stations between the stations of the province in the period 1999 to 2010 were obtained from the National Weather Service. Model Bird and Hulstrom is one of the finest models to estimate the received surface energy of earth that in addition to the data described above, it uses a series of astronomical data astronomical day length, solar zenith angle, solar altitude and atmospheric parameters such as mass absorption ratio of water vapor, methane absorption ratio, absorption ratio co2, and ratio of atmosphere Albedo and the earth to estimate the amount of radiation received in Kurdistan province. The results showed that there is the lowest received energy in January and the highest received energy in Jun. Among the zones, Qorveh has the most annual energy and Marivan has the lowest. In general, the southern regions of Kurdistan receive more radiant energy than the northern regions of the province and due to the season, summer has the most received energy and autumn has the least received energy.
