Objectif (s)
To boost the food security of flood affected food insecure communities for the 2014 planting seasons through the provision of improved wheat seed, fertilizer and community support in the fields of water management and diversification of agricultural livelihoods. • Immediate resumption of wheat planting by 1,500 farming families affected by natural disasters and conflict • Increased crop production, resulting in enhanced food security and reduced dependence on food aid ; • Improved farming practices through crop rotation and diversification of agriculture, resulting in increased food security and decreased dependence on food aid ; • Awareness raised on use of high-yielding wheat seed and vegetable varieties and dissemination of quality wheat seed among farmers in the target areas for subsequent cropping seasons ; • Increased availability of quality seed varieties for secondary beneficiaries (e.g. extended families and neighbouring communities) through farmer-to-farmer exchange/sale in subsequent seasons. • Strengthened capacities of Provincial Departments of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (DoAIL), non-governmental organizations, cooperatives/ communities and individuals. • Improved capacity of affected population in disaster risk reduction awareness and in water management.
