Got Milk ? Livestock Owners Begin Supplying the Market (Kenya)

Kenya

Titre : Got Milk ? Livestock Owners Begin Supplying the Market (Kenya)

Pays  : Kenya

Date/Durée : 2016 – 2020

Projet ID : KEN 1134-16

Description
The increasingly extreme droughts in Kenya’s dry south-west put pastoralists under more and more pressure, forcing them to sell their capital—their livestock—for less than its market value, just in order to survive. This project aims to improve both the professional management of livestock and market access for pastoralists. One focal point is training dairy farmers who have until now only produced milk for their own needs. Demand in the cities is sky-high, but milk can only be sold once the correct conditions are in place, e.g. storage, cooling and transport.
